What is your social media strategy for your business? What platforms do you use? Is there a reason why you’re on 1, 2 or all of them?
Learn about these social media tips on timely and evergreen platforms to help build brand awareness and growth.
What types of platforms?
We had friends over for supper last night and discussed what social media accounts they are currently using for personal and business. For personal use, there was a mixture of Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok. For business, it was a mixture of Instagram and Facebook.
When it comes down to what platforms we use, there is definitely a comfort level that is part of the reasoning. From a business perspective, we need to put more thought around the purpose of the platform and the longevity of your content.
Timely social media platforms vs. evergreen platforms.
No. 1 – Timely Platforms
Consider this type of platform to be quick, the most recent posts on your feed, entertaining and passive ‘brainless’ consumption. You don’t normally search for topics of interest on these platforms.
Social Platforms: Instagram, TikTok, Twitter
What do they offer?
The Timely Platform offers the ability to reach out to your audience on a daily basis, to engage with them often and to provide information that is valuable.
No. 2 – Evergreen Platforms
The Evergreen Platform provides valuable information that is accessible by search, “search engine” based. These platforms are very discoverable and are available to your audience for months and years to come.
Social Platforms: Youtube, Blogging, Pinterest, Podcasts
What do they offer?
They are able to generate traffic to your website and offer the ability to reach a new audience that is interested in your content.
The bottom line is that you need to use a combination of both types of platforms to see the benefits. Remember, reusing your content in a variety of ways and driving traffic to your website is the goal!
If you love Tik Tok, stick with that but add a Youtube channel or a blog. Maybe it is Instagram and a Podcast or Twitter, Instagram and a blog. The key is to have a combination of one or two Timely Platforms with 1 or 2 Evergreen Platforms for optimal growth.
Find a combination of platforms that makes the most sense for you and your business.
